ROME--Pickel Security, a global security systems integration firm, has deployed and successfully tested a concealed object detection and people screening system from Brijot Imaging Systems at Rome's Ciampino airport.
Based on passive millimeter wave technology, Brijot's GEN 2 system can detect a variety of items, including liquids, gels, plastic explosives, narcotics and stacks of currency. The system's full-motion radiometric scanner can distinguish between the natural energy emitted by the human body and that of concealed objects without detailing any body parts of the person being screened.
STORY CONTINUES BELOWAdvertisement Besides being impressed with the detection capabilities, security personnel at Aeroporti di Roma, the company that operates Rome's two international airports, also appreciated the system's ability to handle concerns about passenger throughput.
"Many airports are still working with dated technology because they are afraid to increase the time at security checkpoints," Pickel's CEO Boaz Harpaz explained in a statement. "Brijot's GEN 2 system provides the answer to this problem by moving individuals quickly and easily through checkpoints while providing an added level of detection."
Headquartered in Israel, with offices in Italy, the US and China, Pickel Security specializes in providing complete turnkey solutions that include surveys, risk assessments, preparation of equipment tenders and training to both the government and private sectors.
