UK Biometrics rolls out GBP 500,000 nursery school order
NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, UK--Fingerprint security specialists UK Biometrics announced Monday the rollout of a deal worth over GBP 500,000 (EUR 625,000) to supply and install biometric fingerprint entry security systems at Busy Bees, Britain's largest chain of children's nurseries.

The system, which UK Biometrics has been running trials on at Busy Bees for more than a year, will allow parents and caregivers to access the facilities, while keeping unauthorized people out.

The new biometric locks allow Busy Bees personnel to register the fingerprints of parents and caregivers in seconds. Once registered, they place their finger on a sensor pad at the door, gaining access to leave or collect their children.

A multi-spectral scanner identifies key points on the user's fingerprint and scans subdermal ridges, which the company says makes it impossible to spoof using a fake fingerprint. No actual fingerprint is stored, and the encrypted data is held only by the nursery. It's impossible to reproduce the fingerprint, or any part of the fingerprint, from the data stored.
