In-vehicle CCTV market grows in Middle East |

BICESTER, UK--Demand for in-vehicle CCTV solutions for roads policing in the Middle East is on the rise, according to Traffic Safety Systems (TSS), a unit of the AD Group, which says inquiries it has received in the region about such systems have risen by over 70 percent in the past year.
TSS is currently involved in a series of "intensive trials" with police forces in the Middle East, and expects to announce a major order for its mobile RadarAutoVision system soon, the company said in a statement.
STORY CONTINUES BELOWAdvertisement The growing demand for roads policing in the Middle East is due to a number of factors, notably the growing infrastructure of new motorways and trunk roads, according to TSS. "The fact that countries in the Middle East tend to be towards the top of road death and injury league tables has also resulted in a pressing requirement for improved traffic management," said TSS sales manager Julian Cooke.
As most police forces in the region are adopting CCTV for road policing for the first time, they have the chance to bypass older analog systems and go straight to more flexible digital CCTV solutions, which offer benefits in terms of both in-car operation and image retrieval, according to Cooke.
TSS's RadarAutoVision is fitted into a police car and integrates speed measurement with digital CCTV evidence of a target vehicle that may be speeding or committing other traffic violations. Equipped with NetVu ObserVer video management software, the user can view and copy images from RadarAutoVision's removable hard drive. The systems can be used in a stationary or moving vehicle and can also be used to monitor offenders as they approach or move away from a police car.
