Comtec taps Videotec for palace security in Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY--Comtec Systems, a security installation company based here, has teamed with Italian CCTV manufacturer Videotec to secure the Sief Palace, the seat of Kuwait's crown prince, prime minister and a number of other government offices.

The sprawling 450,000-square-meter complex, which dates to 1896, also includes a dock for yachts, a landing field for helicopters and an artificial lake. In order to watch over all this, Comtec has deployed 52 of Videotec's Ulisse P&T systems to provide 360-degree coverage.

According to a joint statement issued by Videotec and Comtec, the Ulisse system was selected for its ability to operate reliably in some of the world's harshest environmental conditions, including dust storms and high temperatures of over 50 degrees Celsius. The system features an advanced positioning concept, which integrates a high performance P&T head with camera housing and a telemetry receiver and even a built-in wiper and washer pump.

The cameras are all easily remotely controlled from a central control room which monitors a total of some 300 cameras.
