Gunnebo España wins EUR 1.6mln order for BBVA bank
BILBAO, Spain--The Gunnebo security group has won, via its Spanish subsidiary Gunnebo España, an order from Spanish bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BVVA) to install two of its SafeStore Auto automated safe deposit locker systems worth a total of EUR 1.6mln.

The deal is a follow-on order from BBVA, which in 2007 installed the largest SafeStore Auto system ever produced by Gunnebo, which comprised 2,562 safe deposit lockers (SDLs). The new order will comprise approximately 1,800 SDLs for each of the two systems.

In addition to the SafeStore Auto systems, both installations will also include the strong room, which will be equipped by Gunnebo with electronic security elements that will monitor the site, including CCTV and seismic and intrusion detectors.

“BBVA has achieved significant space saving in the branches where they have stopped the traditional SDL service in order to concentrate SDLs in big branches where they are placing SafeStore Auto systems,” Gunnebo’s country manager, José Ortuñu said in a statement. The new systems require only about half the space that regular SDLs require, and they also offer increased security, he explained.

Orders are likely to continue, as Gunnebo said that BBVA plans to continue to install SafeStore Auto at large branches in the future.
